I'm Brandon Stewart, the President of the High Park Community League.
Not many people know much about me or the league in general, so I hope that this can be a good starting point.
I'm 24 years old, and I've been the President since summer 2006. I hope to bring some youth and energy to the community league, and the community in general. The community league is hoping to introduce new programs that will get people out, and involved with others.
As many of you know, the trend is that less people volunteer and are interested in government processes than ever before. We on the league hope to change that. We would like to get more people out to meetings, social events, and just meet new people around the community.
At the same time, we would like to address some of your concerns, such at the Hotel strip on 111th Avenue, and increased drug activity in both our community, and the city as a whole.
Most of all, we want your input! How can we address your concerns if you don't voice them?
I hope to hear from you soon.
Brandon

Holiday One Stop Shop Event
I was excited to read about this upcoming event in the High Park Community Newletter. I saw this as an opportunity to expand my home-based business. Upon contacting Karen to inquire as to whether or not there was space available at this event for additional vendors, I was advised that the individuals participating had decided that Avon should not be present at this event. As an individual living in the High Park community I must express my discontent with this decision. Is this event put on by the community and its members? If so, why shouldn't it be treated as such and available to all that wish to participate.
Every time I am sent a Community Newletter I feel like I am being asked and/or encouraged to be an active member of this community. What would motivate me to participate in any activity which provides a benefit to this community if, I have been intentionally excluded by the community?
